Muslims in Canada have proud history of achievements and accomplishments, ever since their initial settlements in the nineteenth century.

One such achievement and accomplishment is the establishment of one of the first ever all-purpose built mosques and community centres in North America – Al Rashid Mosque in 1938, where the faithful worshiped, the community celebrated and generations grew and prospered. That historical building now resides in an open-air museum in the City of Edmonton, Alberta, and declared as a national heritage site.

From that accomplished beginning Muslim communities throughout Canada spurred into active action cooperating and assisting other minority communities and fellow Canadians build and develop prosperous communities throughout this whole great nation of ours, Canada.

Another note worthy milestone was the building of the largest Islamic school in North America in 2005 by the Muslim community of the City of Edmonton in the Province of Alberta.

This state of art unique grade school, Edmonton Islamic Academy, was built on a 13 acre site (53,000m2), having a built-up area of 1,288m2 comprising 40+ classrooms, administrative offices, four science laboratories, two libraries, four computer rooms, two large gymnasiums, two prayer halls, two cafeterias, and two very spacious atriums, all housing over 1,000 full time students from KG to grade 12.
